As any poet in a new place (though NYC is much, much nicer than the seven circles of hell and a lot less deadly) I needed a trustworthy guide and I found one.
Let’s call her Vergilia. Vergilia is a current undergrad at Columbia, studying „the classics“. She describes herself as a Californian in disguise (and believe me, she really blends in and can be just as snarky as a true-blue New Yorker) and queer. She also sports a mohawk and writes Science Fiction (she is actually very good at that). All in all a person fun to hang out with.
While her sense of direction is not the best (yet, it has brought us to the most interesting places), she has this knack for breaking down living in New York in simple and easy-to-follow rules. So, whenever you see the Headline „Vergilia’s Rules“, I will share a nugget of her infinite wisdom.
More about her in later entry.
